It is dark, late at night, and snowing.…

Inside a big toy department everything is still and scary quiet. Outside on busy snow-filled city streets something terrible has happened. A number of tramps have been abducted. Only Vinny and his streetwise gang of friends know and care.

The kids seek the help of an old lady called Ruby. But Ruby, a mysterious Dollmaker who makes special hand-crafted rag dolls, has been visited by the spooky grey-faced Plastic Patrollers. One of the Patrollers has dropped his badge... the gang find it and Vinny keeps it - knowing the little badge is important...

Avoiding underworld crooks and big, mean, city cops the gang uncovers a dark sinister plot, involving a crooked banker, Sir Francis Honeybill, at a Plastics Factory called Pretty Plastics International. The factory mass-produces tons of cheap, tacky, plastic toys...and strange-looking badges for the spooky Patrollers.

Pretty Plastics International is run by the terrifying Synthetica Polly-Osmosis, otherwise known as Cynthia. With her glamorous, zany, good looks, a deadly plastic finger, and an army of Plastic Patrollers, Cynthia plans to re-model one of the tramps and then the rest of the world according to her own, pure, plastic perspective. This sets the scene for one desperate high-octane adventure.

An adventure in which our hero not only has to face up to his own frailties, but save the life of an old tramp ~ and defeat an increasingly unhinged megalomaniac. Only Vinny and his likeable gang of vulnerable friends, and a clutch of ragbag dolls, stand in the way of Cynthia's mad, synthetic, dreams of glory... and already... it's nearly Christmas Eve.
